I undertook MARS2005 in semester 2, 2013. Andy Barnes was our course co-ordinator, but we also spent lots of time with Selina Ward. Both Andy and Selina were great lecturers, very easy to contact and were both willing to chat after class if needed.
Multiple lecturers across the course, each teaching their specialist areas. Lecture slides were always uploaded ahead of time, with Lectopia available for each lecture.
Two field trips, Moreton Bay (Stradbroke Island) and Heron Island were both really interesting. On each trip you form groups and design experiments, and then write reports based upon the experiments. These reports form the main assessment for the course. Both field trips leave you with plenty of free time.
I was a Commerce student with no science background when I studied this course and found it to be thoroughly enjoyable. I also studied the recommended companion course BIOL2001 in the same semester, and would recommend them together.
Heron Island field trip.
Stradbroke Island field trip.
Great knowledge of oceanic environment.
Some lecturers/content can be dull (i.e. fish and bones vs coral reefs)
