MGTS3203 – Database Management in Business 94.5

Hands down one of the best courses I've done at UQ. Teaches you all about Database management and SQL: extremely practical skills that are very sought after in the work place.

Lectures give an overview of theory and the tutorials apply this theory brilliantly. But Al Robb is absolutely outstanding. He will go completely out of his way to help you understand the content, and will not stop until he has answered your question. Fully available in his office, and since he wrote and designed all the examples and concepts, he is completely on top of everything. Not to mention, he's hilarious and an all-around great guy.

B Commerce (Business Information Systems)

Positives
  • Extremely useful information
  • Well structured course
  • Excellent course coordinator
Negatives
  • Can be a bit overwhelming if you're not quick on the up take
  • Lecture examples could afford to be put in context (i.e. to see the query result)
  • Al can get on personal tangents at times (though they are great tangents) if not kept focused
