MICR3002 – Virology 77.0

********************************************
THE COURSE CHANGED IN 2015!!!!!!!!
********************************************

So changes included:

New coordinator: Roy Hall - A bit dry and monotonous. You may know him from MICR2000.

Final exam: Not exactly the same as previous years, however There may be similar questions (i.e - HIV lectures).

Normal 'cookbook' pracs. Get a good tutor! My tutor 'Thisun' (A thin Indian guy who was very chill) was the best tutor I've had yet.

The GBL lectures can be a waste of time as your group hasn't really researched much in the first few times. This = free time to research or catch up on other subjects! GBL same as in Paul Young's coordinator days. Ends in a poster oral.

Medium - high amount of content.

MICR3002 – Virology 97.9

My favourite non-elective course. It was the reason I continued with virology for my honours year. This course has a great line up of modules and lecturers so the content is always interesting. The research practical is great too. This course has a lot of content however, the final exam hasn't changed in years and there's barely any time pressure so getting a good mark shouldn't be too difficult. Note that you can't rote learn the course content because there's just too much. However, Paul has a habit of going off on a tangent when lecturing which means some content will get pushed to later in the semester. He talks pretty fast too but he's very consistent with lectopia recordings should it's not a huge hassle. Overall, Paul's done a great job running this course - definitely would recommend to any microbiology undergrad.
