MKTG2508 – Brand Management and Strategy 83.0

I'm not sure how I feel about this course....

I HATED the group assessment as I was stuck with lazy team mates and ended up doing the whole presentation by myself BUT the assessment weighting was really good (Major Group Project- Brand Audit (40%), Mid Sem (15%) and Final Exam (45%)).

The lecturer (Claudia Gonzalez) was really hard to understand because of her accent BUT she tried really hard to make lectures fun and interesting. Also, detailed lecture slides were provided, helpful for final exam prep.

The tutorials were really boring BUT they were very helpful in explaining the major points of the lectures.

Overall, I would NOT choose to do it again, or if I did have the chance to go back and re choose my group members I would have.

MKTG2508 – Brand Management and Strategy 87.8

This was a great course that teaches you a lot about brands in general. It gives you a ridiculously detailed look into the Consumer-based Brand Equity model, which turns out to be extremely useful. They pretty much focus the whole course around this CBBE model, and you can see why. It is a great model that will be expanded upon in other courses such as MKTG3504 and maybe some other MGTS courses.

The course content is riddled with examples and analogies. You will be able to understand everything really easily, partly because it is easy content, but also because they teach it well. There were a few guest lectures which were pretty 'meh,' and a sudden change of schedule which resulted in a sub-par video made by the course coordinator.

I had Claudia Gonzalez (not on UQReview for some reason), and she was great. It was her first time teaching as a lecturer, and you could tell she was stressed out because of it. Murphy's Law came into effect with her first year, with just about everything going wrong for her. She handled it pretty well though and the student body did too.

Overall I would definitely recommend this course. I would have recommended it after having just finished it, but now that I have started other courses and the content is touched on AGAIN, I will recommend it all over again.
