MSTU2005 – Film Movements & Genres 92.9

Easily one of the best courses I've ever done. Jane is a great lecturer and you can tell she is seriously interested in what she is teaching. The tutors are her phd students and make every class really fun with lots of clips and discussions about different genres. It was great to be able to try out a lot of different genres I would never have thought of watching before, even if I didn't end up liking them. Would highly recommend!

Is lecture attendance necessary?

They aren\'t recorded, so if you can\'t make it you have to make sure you do all the readings and viewings. I could barely make any lectures and was fine - just catch up in other ways. Would recommend going if you can though.

Is the textbook necessary?

No required textbook

Positives
  • Great films chosen
  • Takes you out of your film comfort-zone
  • Passionate lecturer/tutors
Negatives
  • Lectures aren't recorded
