OCTY2104 – Occupational Therapy for Children & Youth I 87.1

This course is is wonderfully structured, gives students a thorough grounding in some of the more common developmental disorders and as the previous reviewer remarks, offers case based and hands on practice assessing youth and implementing intervention in a controlled environment.
I appreciate Liz's particular style. She seems to prioritise emails and attends to urgent matters directly. It was unfortunate that lecture notes were late to go up sometimes. However, I found Liz extremely approachable and when questioned in greater depth on any topic, she was knowledgeable, highly competent and willing to give her time. The mid-semester exam was a trial of a new online format and required in depth moderation by Liz herself, so was late in being returned. The Battelle assignment was spread across two blocks, with half of the class only completing the work in week 12. If results were back, the earlier students would be unfairly disadvantaged. I found the case assignment in the end of semester had no relation to the earlier submission. They were wholly unrelated. Perhaps if the other reviewer was at risk of failing, it may have spurred them to try harder if they got their results?
To be honest, I started off disliking this course and the staff made the content vibrant and if you can be flexible, you will find advantages in the lecturer's style. The previous review seems like a spiteful attack anonymously in a public place.

OCTY2104 – Occupational Therapy for Children & Youth I 41.7

The content for this course was excellent and very relevant to future practice as an OT. Learning about children and youth is an extremely interesting topic and the assignments and exams were all cased based, which I felt was very good practice for the placements that commence next semester. The only downfall to this course was the lecturer. Although Liz was very organised and knew what she was talking about, she did not respond to emails and was not a very assertive lecturer. It is week 12 of semester now and we have still not received our results from our first assignment (handed in 18/04/14) or our exam (28/04/14). Every other course I have ever enrolled in has returned results promptly and never taken more than 4 weeks, yet we have been waiting for 5-6 weeks now. Despite confronting Liz by both email (which she didn't respond to) and in person, we still have no clue when our results will be released. This is disappointing as results from this assignment and mid semester exam would have been highly helpful for the assignment that is due in two days.
