POLS1102 – Introduction to Politics & Public Policy 90.1

POLS1102 is a very good course, only offered in Semester 1 of each year. It's a compulsory course for first-year students who wish to do a major or minor in public policy.

The assignments were very well-balanced and definitely gives students a solid footing in the world of POLSIS. This course, unlike other courses, is very different. Alastair is a very cool guy who loves to have a joke or two during his lectures. He makes it fun and I think the way he shapes his lectures is second to none (Basically what confirmed my decision to major in public policy). If you're lucky enough to have Alastair as a tutor then happy days because he's a really good tutor.

You also might want to stay for his beautiful Scottish accent.

I really enjoyed POLS1102 and can't recommend it more to students who want to do POLSIS.

Is lecture attendance necessary?

If you love scottish accents, then yes. But content is easy enough.

Is the textbook necessary?

Get it if you want to do well on the assignments. Other than that, good for readings.
