POLS3504 – Conflict Prevention & Resolution 21.0

Took this as the revamped POLS2504.......and it was the reason I changed my peace and conflict studies major to a minor. The essay was due in week 6 by which point we had not been taught even half of what we needed to know to complete the essay...we'd also only had 2 tutes which were mainly setting up the workshop tutorial exercises. The course coordinator (Di) was extremely unhelpful and dismissive of students who reached out to her about their papers. This is the ONLY time in my studies at UQ that a course coordinator has been unwilling to meet with a student about their paper. I was quite disgusted by this and wanted to drop the course, but it is the cornerstone.

The workshops were poorly organised and run and taught me nothing. The readings are outdated and not very helpful and relevant......total waste of time. Lecture slides are poor. Course was very poorly structured as well which led to a lot of confusing jumping around and you being expected to know stuff that wasn't being covered for another 4 weeks. Lectures were dull and dry. Slow blackboard management if you missed anything. Everything about this course sadly sucked, which is a shame for an interesting area.
