MGTS6600 – Organisational Research Paradigms 82.9

It was a relaxed class but yet still challenging in terms of building up critical thinking. This class provided opportunities for new researchers to improve their research skills, for example to understand the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

MGTS6600 – Organisational Research Paradigms 90.9

The course is well structured and gives you a very good understanding of how to research and understand research
articles. A myriad of theoretical perspectives are explored in this course and the seminars are unlike conventional classes but there is a floor open to discussion based on our critiques of the articles provided to us in class.

In particular guidance is given to continually improve the quality of writing. Professor Charmine Hartel makes a concerted effort to explain all of the theoretical backgrounds given in her classes. She is also helpful and ensures that all of the people in class are engaged in terms of the discussion and learning. She is also approachable before and after classes.

In addition to that the the grading and the workload is very reasonable in class and as long as effort is put in (of course quality work is expected) there is a very good chance of achieving a good grade due to the amount of support given by the professor. As a post graduate course, there is some level of writing expected but there is sufficient guidance and guidelines provided to ensure that the class will meet the expected standards.

I think the course also equipped me well for my honours thesis writing.

Prof Hartel, provides all the materials required at course commencement. The students are all honors or HDR level and are given the opportunity of sharing the lead at each meeting by the class participants.
The students are guided rather than managed and Charmine helps the class to bring out the best in each other through class discussions.
The content of the course develops and increases in complexity as the course progresses.
The activities within the class are clear and class members are encouraged to share ideas and their thoughts on progressing the learning experience.
The class members are encouraged to communicate and Charmine is available should an issue require her input.
As the class members are Honors and HDR students, the level of course work is suitably set to challenge the participants, without being unobtainable.
