POLS2703 – Principles of Research: Social and Comparative Perspectives 62.4

(It made me say that I studied it in 2017, but I actually studied this subject in sem 1, 2019)

The lecturer and tutor that I had were extremely nice and helpful, however the course content was very difficult to understand and quite boring. The whole semester was spent discussing ontologies and epistemologies such as individualism and positivism, which was extremely confusing to most students that I spoke with. I chose this course because it was 20% tut participation and 10% lecture quiz (an extremely easy 30%), and even though I really disliked the content I ended up getting a good overall grade (I got a 6, but was only 2% away from a 7), so it is easy to pass even if you don't understand or like the content. However, if you are an IR student like me, and aren't studying research methods, I would try and avoid this course.
