ANTH1008 – Introduction to Anthropology: People, Cultures and Societies 76.4

The course outline was extremely broad however Dr. Orr maintained interest throughout the whole semester. I think the subject of meta-theory could be best left to a second year anthropology course and devote more time to evolution and culture in ANTH1008. Tutorial presentations were mundane and although students were encouraged to think outside the box, no one chose to do so, leaving tutorials to become a bore and limited by shallow discussion.

ANTH1008 – Introduction to Anthropology: People, Cultures and Societies 65.0

This was a really interesting course thanks to the great lectures by Dr. Orr. He made the material as fascinating as he possibly could and allowed for a lot of interaction between him and the students. The only negative thing I would say is that his use of Blackboard was fairly minimal. Lecture slides often were not put up until the next week. Other than that though, the course was great and I would recommend it to everybody.

ANTH1008 – Introduction to Anthropology: People, Cultures and Societies 70.0

Our lecturer, Yancey Orr, didn't put me to sleep in lectures. He's a great teacher and great at explaining content. I also appreciated his little videos to keep things interesting. The textbook was a big help when it came to writing my essay and when studying for exams. Going back to lecture recordings was the only thing that let the course down. It was hard to find which lecture I needed to watch and there were recordings and material from last year which made things even more confusing.

ANTH1008 – Introduction to Anthropology: People, Cultures and Societies 59.3

The course is not difficult if all required activities such as readings and quizzes are completed. Tutorial attendance is crucial. Dr Yancey Orr is a great lecturer but was slightly disorganised when it came to blackboard. Sometimes the assessment was a bit unclear as to the requirements and criteria. Overall an enjoyable course.
