ARCA2140 – Egyptian Archaeology: Past, present and future 100.0

Very engaging. Loved this course. I took it as an elective. The assessment was quite easy however the 10% essay should have been worth more as it was quite demanding to write compared to the other assessment. Very important to attend lectures as there was to lecture recordings in the semester I took the subject.

ARCA2140 – Egyptian Archaeology: Past, present and future 100.0

This has been possibly the most enjoyable archaeology course I have undertaken during my degree. The content is extensive and extremely interesting, as Serena has taken the time to think about what interests her students most while also making topics that are considered a little dryer much funner to learn. The assessment is well planned out and spaced out over the semester, giving us students plenty of time to to get our heads around what is required of us. They are also very relevant to the material we learn in class. Serena is an excellent lecturer. She brings colour and lots of personal experience and stories to the mix, peaking everyone's interest and enhancing our learning experience. Not only that, she makes herself available and approachable should students need to chat to her about anything. She brings a lot to the department, and so does the course itself. The textbook, documentaries and weekly readings provide excellent background to topics discussed in the course, and give us a broader idea of the kind of issues surrounding certain arguments in archaeology today. This is important to me as a student, because I'm being encouraged to explore all sides of an argument, rather than being fed one side, so that I can make my own informed decisions and opinions.

ARCA2140 – Egyptian Archaeology: Past, present and future 100.0

This was one of the best courses I have done. It was really interesting and fun. I loved the documentaries, and even the prescribed readings were interesting. The course was largely online, and well organised, both of which are positives. The layout of the course introduced us to quite a breadth of Egyptian history and archaeology, but it was informative and presented well so it never became too much. The lectures were taught well, with interesting slides and content. Questions were answered well, and individual students were accommodated. The assessment was good: not too hard nor too easy. The essay on Egyptomania was important, because it challenged the way I expect many of us thought, and situated the ancient into its current context of cultural appropriation and colonial misuse. The quizzes forced me to keep up with the content, which was helpful for the final exam.

ARCA2140 – Egyptian Archaeology: Past, present and future 91.1

I really enjoyed this course. It was fun and informative, and provided me with great fun-facts to impress everyone with. The assignments were worth-while and contributed to my understanding of the course content. Was neither too difficult nor too easy. I loved the documentaries as course material, and wish more courses would do that. Dr Love mixed up the ways of learning, so there was a style to suit just about everyone. She is a good, attentive teacher and takes time to assist individual students. She is also quite funny. I agree with other posts that the course was very accessible because most of it was online.

ARCA2140 – Egyptian Archaeology: Past, present and future 100.0

Great, great course!
Loved all the online exams, though I did have some trouble with technology and had to beg to have another attempt at one of the quizzes. So be prepared for the unexpected!
But very very interesting. All the online components made the course that much better as well. Didn't even mind the weekly tutorial activities as they were very interesting!
Definitely recommend this course to all.

This is an amazing course to do and I recommend it to all students: Archaeology majors or not. The content is interesting and dispels many popular myths concerning ancient Egyptians. Online access is brilliant and allows students to study and learn at their own pace, as well as take part in lectures and fun tutorial discussions.

Exams and assessment are great too. Challenging, but through the course content and with staff guidance, students are easily prepared. This is the kind of course where you look forward to doing your weekly readings!
