BIOL2203 – Plant Biology 35.0

Poor structure, assignment explanations and tutorials. Pracs didn't match course content. Assignments had poor explanation of requirements and again weren't linked with course content plus we didn't even receive all the references we needed which were done outside of pracs by course staff. I feel like I haven't learned anything... Lectures were boring and all over the place.

BIOL2203 – Plant Biology 92.9

This course is a really fantastic course for anyone interested in plant science, or scientific research in general. The practicals and experiments you will carry out are new and exciting real research. The lecturers are all fantastic and very knowledgeable in their field. Each topic is taken by a UQ researcher in that field. The lecturers are also very approachable and friendly.
A few tips..
1) Definitely do as many of the past exams as you can as there was a question or two from each previous year. Don't just do past exams as there will be quite a few completely new questions.
2) Be careful with relying on lecture recordings as quite a few didn't record. The lectures are so interesting that you really should go anyway! Lectures started off slow and very introductory but then quickly became interesting.
3) The first few introductory pracs (before you get to the research style pracs) were a bit rushed for time but don't worry they aren't worth much and aren't marked too hard so just have fun with them.
Overall, this course is a lot of fun and if you put in the effort, you can very easily get a 7 in this course.
