BIOM3002 – Human Biomedical Anatomy 91.6

Fantastic course! Of course you need to be on top of the content however the dissections are so incredibly helpful and the course is really well set out. I enjoyed learning under Oliver (the course coordinator)! His exam questions are also pretty easy if you stay on top of content. The guest lectures and histology require a bit of memorisation so I'd recommend looking at that weekly. Really enjoyed the GAF. And the tutors were so incredibly helpful.

BIOM3002 – Human Biomedical Anatomy 78.4

************************************
COURSE CHANGED IN 2015!
************************************

> New Coordinator: Lost the awesome Estifanos ---> Some Italian guy (tip: He wont follow through and get you the 'little canalino coffee' he promises if you answer a question in the lecture)
> Embryology in a separate lecture stream (Brian Key did really well w/ this). Only assessed in the spotter midterm and NOT in the final.
> Histology done well (Kristy)
> Histopathology was a curse! Really badly taught (heaps of content crammed into the lectures!) by Glenda. Hard exam questions in the final.
> Theory was hard. Final spotter easy.

BIOM3002 – Human Biomedical Anatomy 99.7

One of the best courses at UQ!!!! Amazing lecturers (especially Estifanos!!!!) and super interesting content, pracs are awesome and well structured and tutors are also great! A must for any student hoping to pursue Medicine in the future. Content is taught a bit fast so it is imperative to keep on top of everything for success in this course. Overall, one of my absolute favourite courses at UQ.

PS. I feel sorry for all future BIOM3002 students as you won't have the awesome Estifanos as a lecturer since he's leaving UQ this year! He is/was definitely one of the best lecturers at UQ, nay, in the whole WORLD! :P

Positives
  • Great lecturers
  • Interesting lecture content
Negatives
  • Would be good if students got more notes/info on how to use the dissection kit/blades - half the time in pracs I and my other group mates had no idea which scalpel/blade was appropriate for dissections.

BIOM3002 – Human Biomedical Anatomy 96.7

This is the best undergraduate course i did at uq. The knowledge taught inside the lectures is reinforced with a two stage prac. One stage consists of your prac group (4-6 people) completing a quiz/prac booklet on the knowledge taught the week before. The other stage is performing a dissection within your group (on a human cadaver), which helps students learn and visualize human anatomy. Despite the content during lectures being taught at light speed, the course is quite easy to understand and pick up as long as you complete the work presented in the pracs, as they help to consolidate and clarify course content.

Positives
  • Amazing Prac tutors
  • Coordinators rapidly respond to emails
  • Easier final exam
Negatives
  • Taught at a very fast pace
  • Hard spotter exams
