BIOM3014 – Molecular & Cellular Physiology 90.4

I thoroughly enjoyed this course! For starters, it is set out pretty well, and the course coordinator Dom tries his best so that you only have one assessment piece at a time. It is a small step up from BIOL2200, however, a lot of the course material is new information published in recent journal articles (so very up-to-date). Really great course if you're looking at doing molecular and cell biology for honours. The lecturers are all incredibly approachable and I loved turning up to lectures. The practical assessment was pretty easy as you were given most of the information. I would recommend starting early as it is a pretty long report. The journal article presentation was pretty good as well. Definitely submit a draft if you get the chance. Also with the exams, you have to do a lot of memorisation.

BIOM3014 – Molecular & Cellular Physiology 75.9

actually took this course semester 1, 2019. I really didn't enjoy the course at first because it is pretty difficult. I had to watch the lectures several times so understand them because the content is pretty intense.
The lecturers are very good though. Loved Wally Thomas. They respond very quick to emails.
I hated the CRISPR/Cas9 lectures and Meta-Learning tasks. There were 2 and they were each worth 2.5% of your grade and it was very confusing for someone who had never heard of CRSPR before.
Show up to all the practicals or else you won't understand the assignment (I made the mistake of missing one prac and it really messed me up).

basically in the course you learn about GPCRs, MAPKs, Cytokine Receptors, Olfaction, Taste, and Endo/exocytosis
the olfaction lectures were different to the rest of the course in that you learned about previous experiments that proved how the olfaction system works, these were difficult to understand until you watched them on like half speed and wrote everything down and then watched it another 5 times.
