BIOM3020 – Integrated Endocrinology 76.3

The final exam is the most part to pay attention as it includes all the content in exam. Make sure that your review cover most details because if the student is unlucky, partial review = no review, which do not reflect the true knowledge level of students. As there is a double pass in final exam, it is useless to get a high mark in other assigments (report, hot topic) if student does not get pass mark in final exam. If you want to choose this course but the time is limited, always remember the exam is the most important instead of other assignments.

Actually, I think a mid-semester exam is needed for this course.

BIOM3020 – Integrated Endocrinology 68.3

Really interesting and course. All the lecturers were approachable and great at explaining everything lecture content. However, Blackboard was extremely disorganised (would be good if the lecturers organised it like the BIOL3003 Blackboard page). I agree with Natalia's review above, the hot topic assessments did nothing for my learning (I would have preferred a mid-semester exam over the hot topics tbh). But, the worst part of this course was the Mock Ethics application - it wasn't very well explained and could be structured better. There was no real guidance for Mock Ethics and it was -THE- toughest piece of assessment I've done in BSc so far.

Is lecture attendance necessary?

No (but this course is content heavy so if you want to do well, you should go to the lectures)

Is the textbook necessary?

No (unless you\'re aiming for med after BSc in which case you might as well buy it)

Positives
  • Friendly and approachable lecturers
  • Interesting content
Negatives
  • Extremely disorganised Blackboard
  • No proper instruction/guidance for the mock ethics (quite possibly the worst piece of assessment I've ever had to do so far in BSc)
  • Pointless hot topic assessments, would much rather have a mid-semester exam and get a good indication of what to expect on final exam/see how I'm going in the course thus far

BIOM3020 – Integrated Endocrinology 76.7

The course is incredibly interesting and current. The lectures are well structured and presented. Blackboard is disorganised and the learning resources file doe not follow a pattern (name, date, etc.). Marie Pantaleon lecture series lacked a lot of information and it was somewhat difficult to follow.

I believe that the hot topic assignments did not assist or deepen the knowledge I acquired in this course.

The reports were interesting and fun to execute. However, the mock ethics application was more troublesome than it should have been, due to the lack of instruction on how to execute it.
