DECO1100 – Design Thinking 32.9

Probably my least favourite courses I have taken in my time at university.

This course doesn't respect student time or attention, with long compulsory practicals with what feels like undirected and pointless content not well explained for how abstract the fundamental concepts are.

As well as assignments larger than would be necessary to assess student understanding - all justified with "quantity is more important than quality" as the slogan for the course. All of this makes the course feel oddly corporate and detached, and like student time and learning isn't actually a priority of the course.
Criteria for assignments is also obnoxiously vague, and marks are deducted for things not explicitly mentioned in the critera.

Marks are also given heavily to things outside of the scope of design thinking, such as quality of graphic design, drawing and ftv mediums, as well as assignments being heavily weighted on team marks which have a majority of marks outside of individual control.

I am unsure how much of this is due to taking an external offering, however a lot of time was spent zoning out with a zoom class in the background in a compulsory attendance practical, while a tutor tries their best to teach undirected content, and a full cohort of people avoid participation in the class.

DECO1100 – Design Thinking 62.9

The course is fun and creative, with great content and loose parameters and grading.

However, the assessment management is ridiculous from last minute announcements, non-graded compulsory assessment, ridiculous group assessment workloads, no choice of group members, etc.

DECO1100 – Design Thinking 57.9

This course is mainly of designs. You will need to have innovative and creative mind for this course. Good drawing skill is a plus. The assessment for this course consists of 2 group projects.

This course is relatively easy. Furthermore, you need to form a good group to score great marks.
