EDUC6850 – Music: Specialist Teaching Area 40.8

Julie Ballantyne provides little support for students in regard to answering questions about and developing music education approaches. Ms Ballantyne relies on using guest lecturers to fill in time and does not make assessment exceptions clear. Her ability to relate to real world teaching seems inadequate. More significant time spent in the class room would benefit her development. Lastly, her feedback to students work is much too PC and does not reward those who want to raise standards in music education. Rather, she seems to support the ever growing movement of dumbing down curriculum, which is conveniently hidden behind a mask of diversity and student-centred learning.
