Really terrible course, the worst one out of the finance major. Best to avoid it if you can. The topics themselves were interesting but taught very badly. I have learnt much more in courses such as ECON2200 or ECON3210 - which had lecturers who explained the same concepts far more clearly and provided up to date and relevant material.
The midsem and final had 5 MCQs & 3 short answers in each, which of course is extremely limiting and tests only a very small proportion of the massive amount of theory we were required to learn. The majority of questions in the course seem designed to trick you.
Course concepts were easy but made difficult due to lecturer. Very bad at explaining and relating course concepts. Provided pages of material examined yet never examined any of those materials in the final exams
The content of the course is stimulating itself but the way of teaching of the lecturer discouraged students to put efforts. The assessment is not made clear to students and basically she over-emphasized the parts that she is not supposed to (did not come out in the exam). Do not trust what she said in the lectures as most of them are misleading. She can spend forever to discuss the theory parts whereas they only constitutes a really small proportion of the overall assessment. Focus on the calculation and if you do not have time, you can even ignore the theory. You have been warned: she is harsh on marking theory. I dropped the finance major because of this course. Not difficult but really discouraging.
