HIST2411 – Witchcraft & Demonology in Early Modern Europe & Its Colonies 72.1

I think this course has a lot of potential, but it really did not live up to it. The lecture content ended up feeling repetitive, and I just could not engage with Eleanor Morecroft's lecture style. There was a huge amount of reading required, which again felt repetitive at times. However the assessments were pretty interesting, and the tutorials were decent.

HIST2411 – Witchcraft & Demonology in Early Modern Europe & Its Colonies 90.0

Brilliant course! Fun, interesting, stimulating and well structured. Great assignments and overall the course is easy if you do the readings and put in the effort for research assignments. Tutorials are interesting and build on the readings and lectures, so are worth attending.

This is the sort of course any one - of any degree - can study and enjoy. The content is fascinating and basic skills are required - reading + researching. It makes a great elective.

You will leave with a broad knowledge of not only witchcraft and possession in early modern Europe but also of the wider political and religious contexts of the era. We touch on heresy, the Reformation, the English Civil War and law. You really do learn more than you'd expect to (in a fun way too).
