LAWS1111 – Legal Method 68.6

There were two lecturers for the course this year - Dr Cappa took the first four weeks and Mr Hinchy took the others. Dr Cappa was very concise and clear about what the important content of the course was - I found her very helpful in lectures, although she was not as accessible outside of class time. Mr Hinchy was often confusing to understand, and waffled slightly too much, but he is very very approachable and nice, and put in 100% effort to ensure that the students did as well as they could.

In terms of content, the course covers some quite complex concepts, but once you get the hang of them, the course becomes pretty easy in general. The exam is very doable if you understand case analysis and statutory interpretation.

Mr Hinchy's textbook is disappointing and unclear in many places - a common feature of the textbook is him telling us that a particular concept is important without defining that concept or explaining why it might be useful or important. The lecture slides were also quite frustrating - often, Mr Hinchy had just copied passages straight from his textbook without changing them at all.

Overall, though, this is a fairly easy course as long as you put in a bit of time to get your head around some of the more complicated concepts.

LAWS1111 – Legal Method 79.2

Having done legal studies in High School I found this course easier than others did. Explains things fairly well, although some found Hinchy confusing at times. But the law is confusing in nature really. Pay attention and you'll be fine c:
