MECH3410 – Fluid Mechanics 74.3

This was a pretty interesting course! It's great being able to learn about fluid dynamics and to take it into a more aerospace field, such as learning about supersonic flow etc.
There were online videos to watch which were handy and helped a lot with the compressible flow area of the content.

Prac assignments were not fun. Lots of work for very low marks. Tutorials were okay, quite easy to get these marks, especially if you have a good tutor who is a good teacher.

Final exam is a lot harder than everyone says. I think because MECH3410 is taught in the same semester as MECH3200 (for mechanical engineering) that people assume this is the 'easy course'. The final exam proves that wrong. It's a three-hour exam and you need every minute of it. Also very easy to lose bulk marks on the final because there are multiple choice questions worth about 5 marks each out of 100.

MECH3410 – Fluid Mechanics 76.7

Course content is pretty good and compressively covers compressible and incompressible flow. Pracs are about par, the writeups are a minor nightmare for a couple of them. You can count on doing loads of work for relatively few marks. Tutes are well structured and easy marks.

The final exam is extremely difficult, the only way to really practice for it is through doing lots of final exam questions - Vince reuses the same tricks year after year which you won't find in tutes or textbook questions. If you go into that exam needing more than 30% to pass the course you will have a rough time.
