Chris is a great teacher, he is highly enthusiastic and passionate about each subject he teaches. I have been lucky enough to have him for the past 3 semesters with Ancient Tech (ARCS2010) Lithics (ARCS2011) and Human Evolution (ARCS3168). He makes class interesting, and offers opportunities to help with volunteering with sorting work. He is always open to giving students his time with crafting assignments and preparing for classes and assessments. He prepares such interesting and interactive practical sessions, that it is hard not to get caught up in the excitement. While we only had a small class this semester in Ancient Tech, they were all committed and excited to turn up each week, even in the rain to do the experiments he had set up. Not only were they fun, but they were really helpful in driving an understanding of the lecture content and statistics used in reporting. Loved it! Also, I highly recommend checking out his works of fiction "The Unburied Dead".
Chris is a fantastic lecturer for this course. He is so patient and thorough. He is an absolute font of information and goes out of his way to may the course interesting and fun and makes sure all students get a turn at trying out the different technologies in the practicals. He is a man of many talents and we enjoyed learning that he has written a zombie Hittite book and currently illustrating an archaeology comic!
Great lecturer and lovely person. Runs two excellent courses - the tremendously fun ARCS2010: Ancient Technologies, and the extremely relevant (particularly if you are looking to get a job as an archaeologist in Australia after you graduate) ARCS2011: Lithic Analysis (stone tools). He also makes volunteer opportunities in the archaeology lithics labs available to students, working on the archaeological materials from an incredible site up in Northern Australia, and goes out of his way to make sure you know what's going on, and learn heaps. Can be a bit absent minded sometimes, forgot his usb with his lecture slides on it once, but managed to wing it. Always very approachable and enthusiastic.
