Dr James De Voss 36.7

While Dr De Voss teaches what is probably the most difficult chemistry you will encounter in first year (organic reactions), he could really improve on his teaching style. Many of my classmates and I found he rushed through the content, and seemed to be of the opinion that everyone should understand it without much explanation (once again this is probably the toughest section of first year chemistry). He would then spend the first 10 minutes of each lecture recounting the previous lecture in even less detail. He then expected us to remember by heart the dozens of reactions he taught in the final exam.

Which course did you take? (e.g. MGTS1301)

CHEM1200

Positives
  • Tries to lighten class with jokes
Negatives
  • Ridiculously hard content
  • Hurries through lectures too quickly
  • Expects students to rote learn dozens of reactions
