  • Smart, funny and super enthusiastic
  • Great lecturer, if a fast talker

Great as a lecturer and course co-ordinator. Always approachable and knew his content and how to teach it. Sharp witted humour and personality was a bonus.

Dr James Fraser 99.2

Dead set legend. Always presents his modules in a clear to understand and straightforward way. I've always found his lectures to be interesting and his presentation skills are just amazing - you can just tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. Also, really great advocate for the SCMB honours program and a great sounding board for any ideas you have about progressing into honours after undergrad year. Really cares about student learning. Always goes above and beyond.

I have had James in two of my subject this year and its absolutely fair for me to say that he has made them both much more enjoyable, and enhanced my interest in science. What I would usually expect to be a tedious module, James was able to turn mycology (the study of fungi) into something so enjoyable that I have now considered undertaking research in this area. Am looking forward to being taught by him in the future.

BIOL2202, MICR2000

Positives
  • Gives great exam help

Absolutely astounding lecturer and all round good bloke. Willing to help all students in any avenue he can. Very helpful if you have questions about research and will meet with you to explain things plainly.

You can never nod your head off in James' lecture! I have had him in many courses and his lecture was never boring. He is a very clever guy who will encourage you to think outside the box. I lowered the organisation score a little because i have had him coming late (over 15 mins late) in two separate course - for silly reasons such as printer jam and watching some sort of TV series the night before and forgot to organise something for the lecture. But he's a human after all, is forgivable :-)

Which course did you take? (e.g. MGTS1301)

BIOL2202, MICR2000, MICR3003, BIOC3000

Positives
  • Great presentation skills
  • Very helpful, and clear articulation of the message he wants to deliver
Negatives
  • Talks a little too fast sometimes for an ESL speaker like me
