In my entire degree the course titled "Urban and Rural Sociology" whilst no longer available, was by far the most educational and enjoyable class I have ever taken whilst studying. Peter was not only extremely knowledgeable on the subject, but presented numerous points in a way that was easy to understand yet still extremely in depth and engaging. The class discussions fostered extremely interesting and diverse conversations around the subject material in a way that expanded our understanding, rather than just route learning or repeating things from our readings as I find was common in other classes. Peter also gave excellent feedback for essays, offering suggestions to improve my writing skills which helped me greatly, and was always available to discuss any problems we may have had. Even if you are not majoring in Sociology, I cannot recommend Peter highly enough as a lecturer. If you are looking for an easy 7 you might want to look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a class that will challenge and engage you, you cannot go past anything Peter teaches.
I had Peter for sociology of the city and he explained the subject in a approachable, intelligent and charismatic way. Considering it was a large contact class Peter always made time to engage in discussion and encourage the class body to engage critically yet enthusiastically with the theory, and subject matter regarding the topic at hand. I always found the class to be one which I looked forward to. Things which assisted the class in being engaged included a great guide which outlined readings and topics- along with dates for each wiki to be completed by. When I had questions regarding the major essay he answered them in a really positive and engaging manner. Overall a fantastic teacher who was always approachable , organised and positive which reflected on the class overall.
